In a partnership with the State of Florida and Belief for Public Lands amongst different companions, over 2,400 acres of delicate habitats had been acquired for conservation close to DeFuniak Springs.

This new state park protects a big swath of the Shoal River watershed. Like many pure landscapes on this area, it options clear-flowing steephead streams and contoured terrain.

Whereas extra facilities are anticipated sooner or later, the park at present supplies a community of forest highway trails for mountain climbing and biking, accessible from a small trailhead on King Lake Rd.

Essentially the most scenic part is alongside Gum Creek on the north finish of the property. A number of picnic tables alongside the paths provide locations to relaxation on this quiet expanse of rural woodlands.
