San Pellegrino Ski Resort Guide & Review

San Pellegrino Ski Resort Guide & Review

San Pellegrino Ski Resort extends throughout each side of Passo San Pellegrino between Moena in Trentino and Falcade in Belluno. Although this Dolomiti Superski resort is made-up of two areas–San Pellegrino and Alpe Lusia–they aren’t interlinked. Virtually talking, it is smart to dedicate a day to San Pellegrino and one other day to Alpe Lusia.

I skied San Pellegrino in early April. Circumstances had been glorious within the morning, although, as is typical for spring snowboarding, they turned fairly slushy by the afternoon. For me, in the future was ample to see the entire space. Whereas San Pellegrino makes for a nice day journey from Val di Fassa, it’s in all probability not value dedicating a complete ski journey solely to that space.

The place: Trentino and Belluno, Italy

Ski Resort Dimension: 67.5  km of ski slopes

Ski Lifts: 14

Ski Resort Altitude: 1199 m – 2513 m

Ski Season: early December – mid April

Ski Expertise: All ranges, however finest for beginner-intermediates

Webcam: San Pellegrino Webcam

Closest Airports: Bolzano, Treviso, Venezia, Verona, Innsbruck

The place to Keep at Passo San Pellegrino: Lodge Costabella (3-star lodge)

Navigation isn’t at all times clear. Slope signage might be higher.

Not sufficient difficult slopes to fulfill superior skiers

My Impression of Snowboarding Passo San Pellegrino

Costabella, Passo San Pellegrino Ski Resort

Beneath the Costabella chain, a part of the Marmolada Group, the north aspect of the cross is dominated by cruisy crimson and blue pistes that sweep throughout wide-open terrain. Nuova Cima Uomo (#52), the world’s solely black run, delivers essentially the most pleasure on this aspect of the resort.

On the south aspect of the cross, the resort’s solely aerial cable automotive carries skiers to Col Margherita, house to the excellent InAlto Alfio Ghezzi Dolomites ski hut. I had a superb lunch right here. The workers had been nothing however gracious and welcoming.

Col Margherita can also be the start line for the demanding La VolatA World Cup slope (black #41) and the parallel Col Margherita slope (black #40). Navigation will be considerably complicated as a result of restricted signage. I truly ended up on La VolatA fully by chance.

Whereas I discovered the crimson runs on this aspect a bit too mellow for my style, the dramatic views of Pale di San Martino greater than make up for it.

For all its positives, this resort didn’t fairly measure as much as the environment and snowboarding expertise I discovered in Carezza, 3 Zinnen Dolomites, Val Gardena, or Cortina d’Ampezzo. Like I stated, San Pellegrino makes for a worthwhile aspect journey from Val di Fassa, although I don’t assume it deserves an prolonged keep.

The place to Keep within the San Pellegrino Ski Resort

X Alp Hotel, Val di Fassa, Dolomites
X Alp Lodge

The perfect lodging within the resort is the 3-star Lodge Costabella, the primary lodge to be constructed on the San Pellegrino Go (1945).

We stayed in X Alp Lodge in Pozza di Fassa, a great-value lodge and restaurant with direct entry to the Ciampedie ski space of Val di Fassa. Throughout our keep, I took benefit of the lodge shuttle service to succeed in Buffaure, which serves as a connection to the Sellaronda circuit, and Arabba Ski Resort. I beloved the lodge’s new spa space, snug communal areas (lounge and bar), and accommodating workers.

San Pellegrino Ski Area, Chairlift

San Pellegrino is usually grouped within the Val di Fassa ski space, however it’s not included within the Val di Fassa ski resort cross. You need to buy a Alpe Lusia-San Pellegrino ski ticket or a Dolomiti Superski cross.
