The phrase Nantahala is a Cherokee phrase which means “Land of the Noonday Solar”. Containing deep gorges, mountains, and valleys, the Nanathala Nationwide Forest is North Carolina’s largest Nationwide Forest, encompassing 531,148 acres.
In March 2026, volunteers had the chance to work on a two mile phase of the Chattooga River Path. The cool spring temperatures and waterfalls, cascades, rivers, and streams made for a rewarding week of path upkeep.
On the Path
Volunteers joined the South Blue Ridge Hikers/Highlands Path Trimmers on a two mile phase of the Chattooga River Path – rebenching a bit that was in determined want of consideration.
