Clinton Lake Recreation Area – Illinois – Planned Spontaneity

Clinton Lake Recreation Area – Illinois – Planned Spontaneity
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

In September, I met the Lady Camper Group at Clinton Lake Recreation Space in DeWitt, Illinois, which is simply south of Bloomington, Illinois.

The campground is large, with over 300 campsites! There are 10 loops, and we have been within the A loop. It appeared like a number of loops had trails all the way down to the lake. The bathe home was a bit distant, however total, I actually favored the campground.

The park additionally has a motorcycle path that runs from the campground entrance to the seashore, which is a few mile lengthy. I actually favored driving the path because it was extensive and flat and saved you off the street away from autos.

We additionally hiked the Lakeside Path, which takes you across the coves and inlets of the lake and supplies some nice, wooded views of the lake. We hiked from loop A to the Mascoutin Shelter, which is sort of on the finish of the path. We hiked about three miles spherical journey.

The following day, we hiked the paths simply north of the seashore. The trailhead is off a small car parking zone, and we began out on the paved, wheelchair-accessible path and hopped on numerous different trails that observe the lake and wind via the woods. The All Trails app was actually useful when mountaineering these trails since they don’t seem to be actually introduced on the map under. We hiked a big loop, which totaled about three miles. The paths have been extensive and pretty flat.

The following day, we drove to the Parnell Boat Entry, which was about quarter-hour east of the campground to kayak. This web site was really useful by the ranger. We kayaked underneath the Liberty Street bridge and explored the lake. Remember to try the water lilies in the direction of the again half!!

This recreation space additionally has a swimming seashore, which was closed whereas we have been there because it was after Labor Day, a ship ramp, which was actually busy, and a marina with a restaurant.

Remember to try this hidden gem!
