Latemar Dolomites is the biggest ski resort within the Val di Fiemme-Obereggen Ski Space, which is a part of the Dolomiti Superski community.

Accessible from Obereggen, Pampeago, and Predazzo, Ski Middle Latemar stretches throughout the western and southern flank of the Latemar Group in South Tyrol – Trentino. The principle base is Obereggen.

We skied within the Latemar Dolomites ski resort in mid-March. Right here’s my sincere assessment.

The place: Eggental, South Tyrol and Val di Fiemme, Trentino

Ski Resort Measurement: 50 km of ski slopes and 18 lifts

Ski Resort Altitude: 1550 m – 2200 m

Ski Season: Early December – Late March

Ski Expertise: Greatest for novices & intermediates with 67% pink runs, 19% blue runs and 14% black runs

Webcam: Latemar Dolomites Webcam

Ticket: Val di Fiemme-Obereggen

The place to Keep in Obereggen: Sporthotel Obereggen (4-star ski-to-door resort), Resort Cristal (4-star ski-to-door resort), Resort Sonnalp (4-star ski-to-door resort), Resort Das Royal in Obereggen (4-star), Alma Alpina Lodge (adults- solely luxurious)

Professionals and Cons of Snowboarding Latemar Dolomites

Professionals

Wonderful ski infrastructure

Few gondolas

Seamless snowboarding between Obereggen and Predazzo

No lengthy flat connecting runs: excellent for snowboarders

Hanging mountain huts, particularly Oberholz and In.Treska

Cons

Views are much less dramatic in comparison with different Dolomiti Superski resorts

Restricted variety of standout slopes

Environment can really feel a bit subdued

My Impression of Snowboarding Latemar Dolomites (Obereggen)

Latemar Ski Resort, Dolomites

We skied Latemar Dolomites throughout our March journey to Val d’Ega (Eggental) and got here away with blended emotions.

Visiting late within the season had its benefits, with no raise strains and pleasantly uncrowded slopes. We began the day on the Obereggen-Oberholz raise, snowboarding Oberholz (pink run #2) a number of instances. It’s a incredible, well-groomed slope. From there, we moved on to the Absam Maierl space, the place Maierl (pink run #5) stood out as one other spotlight.

Ski slope, Latemar Obereggen

As we made our means throughout the resort towards Predazzo, the connections have been impressively seamless. The infrastructure is solely wonderful.

Nevertheless, the general slope high quality started to say no in Tresca (pink run #30), ranging from the Tresca mountain station, was nonetheless satisfying, however a lot of the terrain past that had turned bumpy and slushy by noon, particularly Cinque Nazioni (pink run #35) and Variante Muro Santa (black run #20a). I had the impression that the Predazzo slopes weren’t groomed.

On the return towards Obereggen, pink runs #9 and #9a have been nice surprises, and fortuitously not slushy.

The true highlights of the day have been eating in In.Treska and Oberholz Hütte, an architectural gem designed by Peter Pichler and Pavol Mikolajcak.

Total, Latemar ski resort is price a day of snowboarding, however not a devoted multi-day journey. We stayed in Nova Levante as a way to ski each Latemar and Carezza, which was a wise selection. We loved Carezza Ski resort considerably extra.

Lunch at In.Treska, Latemar Ski Resort, Dolomites

Positioned just under the Tresca mountain station at 2,200 m, In.Treska is a gourmand ski hut specializing in grilled meats, locally- and internationally sourced. I ordered the radicchio tarte tatin, which was very flavorful. Come for the sweeping panoramic views, coal-fired meats, and wine.

Oberholz Hütte

Oberholz Hütte Restaurant, Ski Hut in Latemar Dolomites

Oberholz Hütte is a up to date ski hut, hanging each in and out. Impressed by the type of a fallen tree, the timber construction branches out in direction of the slope in a curvaceous kind. The trio of A-frame eating rooms, with floor-to-ceiling home windows, appears to be like out throughout Val d’Ega. If you would like a coveted window seat, do make a reservation.

The inside, which jogged my memory of a hull of a ship, impresses with its sloped roof geometry. The entire construction is totally fabricated from spruce, larch, and oak.

Although the meals was satisfying, the inside steals the present.

Greatest Base for Snowboarding in Ski Middle Latemar

Hotel Cristal, Obereggen
Resort Cristal

Obereggen is one of the best base for snowboarding Latemar Dolomites. Nevertheless, I’d additionally think about Nova Levante if you wish to additionally ski Carezza. We stayed in Resort Berghaus Rosengarten, a lovingly-run 3-star resort with half board and a small spa.
