Inside the 4,000 acre expanse of Escribano Level WMA, Bayou Recreation Space sits on a bluff above a horseshoe curve of Fundy Bayou’s outflow to Blackwater Bay.

Previously a tenting space, it’s now day use solely with picnic tables to benefit from the view and paths down the bluff for anglers to strategy the water’s edge.

Beginning at a kiosk alongside the sting of the parking space, the Fundy Bayou Path is a simple loop of lower than a mile into upland habitats above the bayou.

This well-marked tour into scrub, sandhill, and pine flatwoods is a counterpoint to the bayou’s majestic move under the bluff.

Instructions

  From Interstate 10 exit 31 at Milton, observe SR 87 south for 9.2 miles. Inside Eglin Air Pressure Base, flip proper onto Choctaw Discipline Rd, a paved street (Vary Street 213). The pavement ends when the street reaches the airfield gate. Simply earlier than it, flip proper to proceed 4.2 miles on a graded clay street that first circles across the north fringe of the airfield. Maintain to the broader principal street at any junction. Hike
