An Overabundance Of Kiwi – Must Hike Must Eat

Earlier this summer season a coworker messaged our gang with an ask about kiwis that his spouse’s work (the YMCA) had obtained:

Now in my thoughts, I used to be pondering these 3lb clam shell containers of kiwis you’ll find at Costco so I mentioned we might take two.

Oh no, not even.

The choose up spot was solely a couple of mile away from my home so I rolled down on my bike and one pannier pondering no downside.  After I received there, Raylin was laughing that sure, I had ridden my bike after he advised his spouse I journey in all places and would in all probability present up on my bike.

The again of their automobile was full with ACTUAL CASES of kiwi they have been delivering to as many individuals they knew as they may.  As in, about 50 kiwi per field.  All at ripe or simply about to go overripe stage.

Not one to show down a problem, I fortunately had straps in my pannier.

Sure, I made it house and assessed the golden kiwi bounty. What to do?  I had been pondering we might have some for the children to take pleasure in for the vacation weekend, not one thing I used to be going to need to course of!

Seems, I used to be in a position to fill 9 trays of the dehydrator with one field.

They dried up properly!

Fortunately kiwi is straightforward to peel with the news of a spoon.  Some folks simply eat the peel however I personally don’t take pleasure in it.

Some I peeled, halved and froze for smoothies.

With a bit assist from the hubs and household, we completed the remainder.

We have now about half of the dehydrated kiwi left, it was tremendous common with the children this summer season.  We shall be having fun with this over abundance into the winter season for certain!
