Created throughout building of the Port of Palm Seashore and its accompanying inlet, Peanut Island is called after a peanut oil enterprise within the 1940’s that by no means took off.

The island has an intriguing historical past, being the placement for Detachment Lodge, a Chilly Conflict bunker constructed for the President of the USA.
