Making It Our Trail: Hard Work on Sheep Mountain

This summer season, a gaggle of volunteers gathered close to Cody, Wyoming — gateway to Yellowstone Nationwide Park — to assist enhance the Sheep Mountain Path, a path cherished by hikers and horseback riders alike. Framed by sweeping vistas, steep canyons, and distant peaks, the crew got here able to work onerous — and so they did.

On daily basis they tackled steep terrain, reducing a brand new one-mile part of path into the hillside by hand. They carved sturdy tread, eliminated free soil and berms, and thoroughly formed grade reversals — delicate however essential design options that may enable water to empty correctly, decreasing erosion and defending each path and habitat for years to come back.

Their collective effort didn’t simply enhance a path — it ensured that this public land will stay accessible, sustainable, and prepared for others to expertise and revel in for years to come back.
