Journey report by BestHike editor Rick McCharles
My first hike in Malta was organized by Marco Polo hostel in St.Julian’s. In reality, they provide a tour for patrons virtually each day.

Leaving the hostel earlier than 2pm, we first took the general public bus to Popeye Village, a purpose-built movie set village for the 1980 live-action musical function movie Popeye starring Robin Williams and Shelley Duvall.

Opting to not be part of the vacationers down there, we as a substitute headed out on what Google Maps calls the Popeye cliffs.

The ocean clear and beautiful.

From there you could have many choices. Our volunteer information, Paty, took us alongside the cliffs for some kilometres, then inland the place we stopped to tour a powerful farm.

Most of Malta’s meals is imported — however they develop terrific strawberries.

Malta is likely one of the the most densely populated nations on earth. These cliffs are one place you will get away from folks.
It’s densely populated with vacationers and retiree expats, as nicely. 😀
Our group break up at this level. I stayed with Paty for the gorgeous sundown.

We then continued to the city of Mellieha to see the Church of Paris. Service was in progress.

Lastly, to the close by Miraculous Grotto. An underground pure cave which was consecrated as a church sooner or later in distant historical past. In response to custom, the cave was initially a spot of worship for the nymph Calypso, but it surely grew to become a Christian website after St Paul‘s shipwreck on Malta in 60 AD.
It was again to the hostel by 9pm. The opposite half of our group had completed earlier, carrying on on the fashionable hostel Bar.
The opposite Canadian on the journey, age-19, was studying about hostel get together life.

I skipped the consuming and went to mattress as a substitute. 😀
