Journey report by BestHike editor Rick McCharles
Mount Pellegrino (Italian: Monte Pellegrino; Sicilian: Munti Piddirinu) is an remoted carbonate rock promontory on the northern coast of Palermo, Sicily, Southern Italy.
It has an altitude of 606 meters (1,988 ft) above sea stage, making it the best peak throughout the metropolis perimeter …
I adopted the AllTrails route known as Acchianata – Salita Santa Rosalia.
Spiritual followers climb on the evening of September 4 for the anniversary of the loss of life of Santa Rosalia, patroness of town of Palermo.

The “Scala Vecchia” (Outdated Stairway/Acchianata): That is the traditional pilgrimage path. It’s a broad, cobbled stone street that switchbacks up the mountain.
Distance: ~7 km spherical journey.
Length: Roughly 1.5 to 2 hours to achieve the sanctuary.
There’s truly a community of seep trails and roadways, making Pellegrino in style with cyclists and path runners.

My hike was supposed to complete on the Sanctuary of Santa Rosalia. There’s a bus again from right here.

However I made a decision so as to add one other km, or so, and make my approach to the highest on a slim, little used path I noticed on Maps.me.

I took a shortcut on this street again to the path. And walked down the way in which I’d come up.

An excellent exercise.

Sure. Similar spelling as S.Pellegrino — however the model is known as after the city of San Pellegrino Terme within the province of Bergamo, Lombardy, the place the water has been bottled since 1899.
Pellegrino means pilgrim.
