Climbing revitalized my life after the pandemic. Quarantine disrupted my highschool expertise, and I spent many monumental moments, like committing to school and getting my driver’s license, remoted at dwelling.

I anticipated these milestones to offer me extra freedom, however I couldn’t go anyplace indoors. If something, I felt extra restricted and trapped than earlier than. After seeing a mountaineering vlog on-line, I made a decision to strive it for the primary time. Visiting native trails gave me a much-needed reprise from Zoom courses and ‘doom scrolling’ on my cellphone. Going to my neighborhood park rapidly became lengthy walks within the woods, in the end ending with climbing NJ’s tallest mountains.
