Lower than a dozen miles from downtown Venice, T. Mabry Carlton Memorial Reserve is wild sufficient that the Florida panther roams its almost 25,000 acre expanse.

Mountaineering
4 color-coded loops radiates from the principle picnic space. Three of them make ever-widening concentric circles.
The three mile Crimson Path is the outermost loop, sharing the southernmost a part of the Myakka Island Wilderness Path.

For off-road cyclists, this 9.1 mile twisty singletrack begins at a distinguished kiosk on the trailhead.

The 11 mile linear Myakka Island Wilderness Path extends north into Myakka River State Park to a trailhead alongside SR 72.
